Comment: And this is how they look after alignment. Oh yeah, and they are pointed "True North" if you didn't notice!

Comment: It's dusk and I'm done for the day. The following day I aligned both yagis and synchronized them with the rotor to "True North". This was after a lively debate on the TowerTalk reflector when I asked the group the best way to determine true north.

Comment: We have arrived at the 70 foot level and are in the process of attaching the clamps to the mast. My mast material is 6061-T6 aluminum tubing with a 0.25" wall. The length is 24 feet, with 10 feet into the tower. The large yagi is mounted about six inches above the top thrust bearing and the 6-meter yagi is 7 feet above that. At the very top is a dual band VHF/UHF vertical.

Comment: We're 50 feet up, 20 feet to go! I have rotated the antenna into horizontal position to avoid having the elements tangle with the 6-meter yagi that is already installed. The two elements of the antenna are just far enough apart so the HyGain can be raised in this orientation. This is a self supporting tower so there are no guy wire issues to deal with either.

Comment: Neighbors Joyce Nelson on the tag line and Dave Nelson on the garden tractor. We're hoisting the HyGain TH-11DX into position. This was Joyce and Dave's first antenna raising party!

Comment: This is how the L bracket mounts to the tower. The U-bolts are 1/2 of large wire clamps. The saddles were discarded. The L bracket length was cut for a precise fit between the tower legs.
